LCM’s stance on Racial Equity and Anti-Racism

At Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of Iowa, we are committed to advancing racial equity and practicing anti-racism, each of which are key aspects to our faith and mission. We acknowledge that racial injustice can expose itself in many forms and that it is our responsibility to get rid of these inequities through advocacy and action.

Lutheran Campus Ministry is and always has been a proponent of creating an inclusive community where all individuals, regardless of someone’s race, creed, color, or land of origin are welcome. We actively work to create spaces with open dialogue and to be a space where individuals can become more open-minded and understanding.

Lutheran Campus Ministry in the past has partnered with campus and community organizations to challenge systemic racism and support marginalized voices. For instance, after May 25, 2020, several Black Lives Matter protests erupted across the United States, after the murder of George Floyd. Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of Iowa members participated in Black Lives Matter protests and headed BLM sign-ups.
